HOW TO GET THINGS DONE
I’ll tell you what I do;
I forget about it. Sounds crazy but it’s true. I push the problem so far back
in my mind that it becomes just a little blip on my mental radar. If I’m
feeling especially creative I create problems, blow them out of proportion and
then feel safe that I didn’t “fail” but rather became “busy” (What can I say?
The human mind will think up anything to avoid blame)
For those like me who
adopt a similar coping strategy, you’ve also been hit with this same feeling;
Wake up in the morning, think of the work you have to do, scream and laugh a little in
your mind and then get back under the covers cause there are movies to be
watched. As perfect as this may seem, it’s not going to last and you WILL have
to go back to your work since that schedule won’t clear itself.
For your reading
pleasure, here are 3 tips to help you fix your work problems;
1.
Free up your schedule; Dear reader, you’re
definitely gonna lose steam if you keep trying to rush through your tasks. Try
breaking them down into sections that can be covered each day (In essence, if
you have 10 things to do, try completing 3 a day)
2.
Milestones; Every step made towards
completing your task is relevant. These steps extend from your task and become your goals. Celebrate such progress on a regular basis to give yourself the
motivation to get more done.
3. Take Breaks; If you’re likely to do a lot
of mental work, it’s best you learn how to escape from your tasks and do stress
relieving activities. It could range from having a reading a book or collection
of poems to just having a conversation with someone (Don’t use that opportunity
and run o. The work isn’t going anywhere and until you get it done, Neither
will you)
These tips will arm you with time and time management skills for that never ending battle against procrastination and eventually, you’ll win.
If the rewards aren’t immediate? They will come.
Now I’ve kept my promise from the last post, join me next week as I hit my milestones as we continue our look at
POWER GENERATION; AN AFRICAN PERSPECTIVE
Thanks for this

ReplyDeleteHow important it is for us to remember that sweeping the dirt (tasks) under the rug just hides the dirt (E go still open laslas) and the practical principles of using milestones. It's good to give yourself a pat on the back every now and then.
